Giant 3-D cinema screens will be one new feature on Royal Caribbean International’s new mega ship Allure of the Seas.
The sister vessel to Oasis of the Seas – launched last year as the largest cruise ship in the world – will have a number of different on board facilities.Among the features being introduced include specially equipped 3-D movie screens in the ship's Amber Theatre.
The 3-D technology will also be added to Oasis of the Seas and Freedom class vessels Freedom of the Seas and Liberty of the Seas by January 2011.
Cabins on Allure of the Seas also will be equipped with Apple iPod docks.A new Mexican-style restaurant in the Boardwalk "neighbourhood" replaces the Seafood Shack on Oasis of the Seas.
Also new will be an outdoor hot-dog specialty counter. Guest services’ kiosks will allow passengers to instantly view, print or e-mail their SeaPass folio or their personal calendar, or check-in and print airline boarding passes.
The 5,400-passenger Allure of the Seas will be launched in December to sail on western and eastern Caribbean itineraries from Fort Lauderdale in Florida.
