Freedom Of The Seas
Freedom of the Seas was the first member of Royal Caribbean’s spectacular Freedom class of ships when she launched in 2006. Since then she has been joined by sister ships Liberty of the Seas and Independence of the Seas and at nearly 160,000 tons are the largest, most exciting cruise ships ever to have been built, however Royal Caribbean’s new 220,000-ton Oasis Class will dethrone them as the world’s largest passenger ships when Oasis of the Seas launches in late 2009. more info ›
As you’d expect, Freedom of the Seas is packed with amazing onboard features. Her 15 decks offer a huge variety of dining, entertainment and accommodation options plus a host of innovative features including industry firsts such as cantilevered whirlpools extending beyond the sides of the ship, the H2O Zone interactive water park and FlowRider, the world’s first onboard surf park. Other highlights include a rock climbing wall, ice-skating rink and Royal Promenade, a 445ft street running through the ship lined with shops, 24-hour dining, pubs and wine bars.
Freedom of the Seas has an impressive guest capacity of over 3,600, a length of 1,112ft and a gross tonnage of 160,000. Her maiden voyage was the 4th June 2006 and she cruises at a comfortable speed of 21 knots/29mph.
Did you know…Freedom of the seas is the equivalent in length to 37 double decker busses and with a beam of 185ft; it is wider than The White House!
Not to be missed…Whilst on-board Freedom of the Seas you must see "The Greatest Show at Sea", which is a circus themed parade and although only 15 minutes long, this is a very popular show which runs along the promenade so make sure to get there early and grab yourself a front row spot.
Freedom of the Seas allows her guests plenty of choice when it comes to dining and appeals to the whole family. The main dining room is set upon three levels, each with a different name; "Galileo", "Isaac" and "Leonardo". Casual dining is certainly available on Freedom of the Seas and there are plenty of options to choose from. If you fancy sandwiches, snacks and buffet food then Freedom of the Seas has "The Promenade Café", "Jade Restaurant" and "Windjammer Café". "Chops Grille" is where you can divulge in the finest steaks, burgers and seafood. Everyone loves "Johnny Rockets" which is the on-board 1950s restaurant with traditional American food. "Latte-Tudes" offers coffee with a selection of cakes and pastries. The infamous ice-cream parlour "Ben and Jerry’s" is perfect for a tasty cool down and "Portofino" is the on-board luxury Italian restaurant
There are tons of activities aboard Freedom of the Seas. You can re-create surfing on the Flowrider, have a go at attempting to climb the Rock Climbing Wall, skate around her Ice Rink and take a swim in her swimming pools, or unwind in her whirl pools. If you are missing your family and friends at home you can always send them an e-postcard in the internet cafe. Freedom of the Seas caters for the athletic with an on-board gym, full size sports court and full sized boxing ring, plus a 9-hole miniature golf course. Amongst the many things to do, you can also pick up a new talent with the available classes such as; wine tastings and classes, casino and card game lessons, napkin folding, towel folding, fruit & vegetable carving, foreign language classes, learn to salsa dance and learn to swing dance!
"Entertainment is plentiful aboard Freedom of the Seas and you can choose from a full mixture of bars, lounges and theatre venues. Casino Royale" is perfect for anyone who fancies a bit of a gamble, whether you’re experienced or a beginner, the casino is always on hand to provide lessons and all round entertainment. If you prefer a street dancing party then head down to the "Royal Promenade" for a nightly themed fancy dress party. The "Schooner Bar" is where you can have a good sing song with a talented on-board pianist, or boogie down to the Pharaoh’s Palace where you can dance the night away at the disco. There are daily performances of ice-skating shows in "Studio B" or if you prefer to just sit and listen to music then "Cloud Nine" and the "Champagne Bar" are the perfect place to have a quiet drink and relax.
Relaxation is a must once aboard a cruise, and Freedom of the seas has an on-board spa to help you do just that. Both men and women can visit the beauty salon and indulge with make-overs or hairstyling, plus manicures and pedicures are available. YSPA is a workshop specially catered to the teens aged 13-17. They offer mother and daughter massages, father and son workouts, self-tanning treatments and more!

"Challengers Arcade" is where you will find non-stop fun for the teens, there are a variety of activities on-board including; learn how to Ice-Skate, a backstage tour to meet all the cast and crew, arts and craft workshops, dance lessons, rock climbing wall instructions, ice skating lessons, jewellery making, ice carving lessons, cooking demonstrations, play the keyboard or even partake in a hip-hop dance lesson. There are plenty of shows, parties and discos dedicated to families.
Just in case of emergencies there are two qualified doctors and three nurses on board your ship 24 hours a day. There is also a pharmacy on-board with common supplies although it is advisable to bring any special medication with you during your cruise. Freedom of the seas offers wide corridors to accommodate for wheelchair users and they also provide assistance when getting on and off the ship. You can bring your own wheelchair or alternatively hire on and they will personally deliver it to your stateroom. They also accommodate for visual impairment with Braille all around the ship, orientation tours, large printed menus and guide dogs are also welcome. For people with hearing disabilities, they provide an alert system in your room that lets you know when someone is knocking at your door; your phone is ringing, alarm clock and smoke detector. Sign language assistance is also available for some of the main productions.
