Monarch of the Seas is the second of three Sovereign class cruise ships built by Royal Caribbean International. At 73,941 tons, Monarch of the Seas was one of the largest cruise ships in the world at time of her completion in 1991 and carries up to 2,744 passengers. Monarch of the Seas was completely refurbished in May 2003 during which a rock-climbing wall, an Asian-fusion restaurant, Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream bar and Boleros Latin nightclub were added.
Monarch of the Seas has a guest capacity of 2,744, a length of 880ft and a gross tonnage of 73,941. Her maiden voyage was 17th November 1991 and she cruises at a comfortable speed of 19knots/22mph.

Not to be missed…Whilst on-board make sure you head to 'Jade Asian Restaurant' and try the fusion style menu as it is absolutely divine!
The main dining room aboard Monarch of the Seas is set upon two tiers and named "Vincent’s and Claude’s - it is here that you can choose from a selection of tasty dishes. For something a little less formal then you can choose from the "Windjammer Café" which is a buffet-style eatery and "Sorrento’s" which serves delicious pizza. ‘Latte-Tudes’ offers coffee, cakes and pastries or if you fancy speciality dining then try "Jade Asian Restaurant" for a fusion style menu. Room service is always available if you want food served straight to your door and ice cream doesn’t come any tastier than "Ben and Jerry’s".
There are plenty of activities to get involved with aboard Monarch of the Seas. The Pool Deck offers two Swimming Pools and two Whirlpools and there is plenty of deck space for you to soak up the sun on a sun lounger. For all those thrill seekers there is of course a Rock Climbing Wall, or if you fancy keeping in touch with loved ones back home then there is an Internet Centre available. The Fitness Centre is fully equipped with everything you need for a great work out, or you can go for a jog around the Jogging Track, plus there is a full-sized Sports Court where you can play the likes of Tennis and Basketball. For those who like to shop you can grab a bargain in the Shopping Arcade and there is also an Art Gallery and Photo Gallery.
There are plenty of venues aboard Monarch of the Seas to keep you entertained all night long. "The Sound of Music Lounge" is home to Broadway shows, comedians, circus shows, cabaret acts and more! Head down to "The Circuit" for a lively atmosphere and all the latest music and the "Boleros Latin Nightclub" offers a slightly different theme with a live band. "Schooner Bar", "Pool Bar" and "Champagne Bar" offer a relaxing and refined atmosphere or "Viking Crown Lounge" offers panoramic views with comfy sofas. Casino Royale is perfect for anyone who enjoys a game of chance, with slot machines, Poker tournaments and more!
Treat yourself to a therapeutic massage in the on-board Spa where you can kick back and relax in awe of the ocean which lies ahead of you. The Spa also features a Beauty Salon, Treatment Rooms and Pampering Sessions. The library is available for anyone who enjoys a quiet atmosphere with a book and a cup of coffee.
There are plenty of family-friendly activities on-board with tutorials, interactive games and more! There are plenty of shows, parties and discos dedicated to families. The popular home for the teens is 'The Arcade', where you'll find various arcade games including; Air Hockey, Guitar Hero, Pacman, Skittle Time, to name a few. Monarch of the Seas has an age appropriate activity programme for all the children, with workshops, arts and crafts, backstage tours, dance lessons, rock climbing wall instructions, ice skating lessons, jewellery making, ice carving lessons, cooking demonstrations, play the keyboard or even partake in a hip-hop dance lesson.
There are two qualified doctors and three nurses on board your ship. There is pharmacy on-board although it is advisable to bring any special medication with you during your cruise. Monarch of the seas offers wide corridors to accommodate for wheelchair users and they also provide assistance when getting on and off the ship. You can bring your own wheelchair or alternatively hire on and they will personally deliver it to your stateroom. They also accommodate for visual impairment with Braille all around the ship, orientation tours, large printed menus and guide dogs are also welcome. For people with hearing disabilities, they provide an alert system in your room that lets you know when someone is knocking at your door; your phone is ringing, alarm clock and smoke detector.
