Thanks to her ability to cruise at higher speeds than other ships, Borealis – sister ship of our flagship Bolette – is perfectly suited for sailing our longer voyages across the globe. Cruising faster means she can include more stops, scenic discoveries and highlights into each itinerary.
Stylish, spacious and comfortable, with a choice of elegant public areas, restaurants and just 690, she is ideal for Fred. Olsen's style of cruising. On board Borealis you’ll find you’re never overcrowded. There is always ample room in which to indulge yourself in the stylish dining venues, enjoy a glass of your favourite tipple and fantastic entertainment at the bars, lounges and theatres, and while away the hours by the all-season pool.Show less
Borealis fits perfectly into our small ship fleet and, like all our vessels, has her own elegant design touches. Even the pattern and weave of the British-made carpets were hand-chosen by Fred. Olsen Jnr, with attention to the finer details every step of the way.
Borealis is a new addition to Fred. Olsen's fleet, bearing a name inspired by the natural wonder, Aurora Borealis. The ship is stylish, spacious and comfortable, with a capacity for less than 1,400 guests on-board and keeping with the line's signature traditional cruising style.
On-board you can find ample room to explore so you'll never feel it's overcrowded. There are plenty of bars and lounges to relax in, as well as dining venues for you to indulge. With two swimming pools, two jacuzzis and an impressive spa there are many options to choose from for a relaxing sea day, while the evenings offer live shows ranging from music and cabaret to stand-up comedy.

Our elegant two-tiered main restaurants are at the heart of a Fred. Olsen dining experience.
Every evening, you can enjoy a delicious five-course, a la carte menu, created, freshly prepared and cooked by our team of chefs and you will be taken care of by our wonderful waiters at your own table. The menu is changed daily and the elegant dishes include steaks, seafood, freshly made soups, pasta and salads plus a selection of beautiful homemade breads, made overnight in our on board bakery.
When you cruise on board our new ship Borealis, you can choose flexible dining which allows you to dine at any time in the evening or, your table will be allocated to you at the same time each evening for the duration of your cruise.
An alternative option for guests who prefer a more intimate experience, the Indian Ocean Room offers the same five-course á la carte dining as the main, two-tiered restaurants, but in a smaller, Indian Ocean-themed venue.
Cosy, yet spacious and comfortable, and benefiting from large picture windows, this is the perfect venue for indulging a sumptuous dinner, as well as delicious breakfasts and lunches, whilst enjoying the company of your loved ones, friends and just a few of your fellow guests.
Colours and Tastes restaurant offers modern Asian Fusion dishes which are a real talking point and food that tastes best when shared. The décor is colourful, the mood cheerful and the food offers a stimulating set of new taste experiences.
Our specialist chefs will create a selection of dishes to share at your table including spiced grilled meats, seafood, gyozas, dim sum and sushi, as well as the classic Chinese and Thai favourites.
You can reserve an individual table or, to get a real flavour of Asia, why not join others at our long communal table where you can enjoy your meal with the best of company or “I det beste selskap” as we like to say in our native Norwegian.
Colours & Tastes is available for dinner in the evenings, and can be booked in advance by using our Pre-book button, with our Maître D, or Guest Services once you are on board. There is a £5pp additional supplement for this dining option which will be added to your cabin account.
Vasco (named after the famous explorer Vasco Da Gama who was the first European to reach India by sea) offers a fresh and modern take on Indian food.
The menu has been inspired by our chefs from Goa and focuses on the unique culinary traditions of that area - a place where the tastes of Europe first met the tropical warmth and spices of western India.
Here you can enjoy delicious sea-food, spiced curries and grilled meats, all cooked fresh and to authentic recipes by our Goan chefs.
The bright colours and feel of the restaurant have also been inspired by the warmth and richness of the Goan tradition.
Our Vasco restaurant is located near The View on deck 8, midship, and is available for dinner in the evenings. This dining option is bookable in advance using our Pre-book button or with our Maître D or Guest Services once on board.

The View restaurant is a wonderful treat created to be just right for the relaxing feel you often want from days away and at sea. It is designed to be easy-going: light, open, with beautiful views of the ocean; no formal dress-codes; no set tables; no standing on ceremony.
Instead, delicious breakfasts, lunches, afternoon teas and dinners are laid out as the most generous buffet and served to you by our crew. You can come and go as you please and eat whatever takes your fancy. And, when you are feeling peckish in the late evenings, you’ll find The View is open for a delicious late night buffet and bedtime snacks.
