Hurtigruten Cruise Ships

Hurtigruten ships offer a great way to explore some of the more unique scenic locations around Europe, the Arctic and the Antarctic. Comfortable and stylish, the fleet offers the chance to see absolutely stunning scenery while enjoying quality fresh dining that reflects the region.

Cruises on Hurtigruten ships are informal with no dress code, although they are tailored to adults with few facilities and features for children on-board. Cruises with Hurtigruten are definitely the best for people with a sense of adventure, interested in seeing beautiful coastlines and fascinating wildlife.

The Hurtigruten ships are classified into four types with varying facilities and purposes. Each ship is designed primarily to enjoy the destinations, ideal for travellers with a taste for exploration, but on-board features are still well-equipped for unwinding, letting you enjoy a quality cruise.

Explorer Class

The MS Fram is the only ship in the Explorer class, specifically built to safely travel through the iceberg-filled waters of Greenland and Antarctica. The small capacity means the ship has a relaxed atmosphere, and with Jacuzzis on deck you have the perfect place to take in the landscapes that you pass, as you uncover landscapes that few other ships can reach.

Traditional Class

There are two ships in the Traditional class. Combining a classic feel with excellent service, the MS Vesteralen and the MS Lofoten provide the same high standards that Hurtigruten ships are renowned for, offering a relaxed way to discover the Norwegian coastline. These ships are smaller than many others in the fleet, ideal for an intimate and friendly cruise experience. The MS Lofoten has been in service since 1964 and despite a refurbishment in 2003 still serves as a great way to relive the style of the times.

Contemporary Class

There are six ships in the Contemporary class, all built in the 1990s and serving as a more modern way to experience the ports and sights on offer. Each sleeps around 600 passengers and is decorated with art celebrating Norway and local culture. The MS Nordnorge, MS Nordkapp, MS Polarlys, MS Nordlys, MS Richard With and MS Kong Harald all offer a cosy and well equipped way to see the best features of the region, with quality facilities to ensure you have the best voyage possible.

Millennium Class

The largest ships in the fleet make up the Millennium class: the MS Finnmarken, the MS Midnatsol and the MS Trollfjord. These three ships have panoramic lounges to help you enjoy the views of the fjords and coastline, and each has the capacity for up to 1,000 guests on-board. The MS Finnmarken is the only ship to have both swimming pool and Jacuzzis on the deck. The MS Trollfjord has a calm and stylish interior using locally sourced wood and stone, while the MS Midnatsol uses Norwegian materials to help create a more modern style, reflected in the modern art on-board.

All of the ships in the Hurtigruten fleet offer a fantastic way to explore and discover, from speciality sailings to see the Northern Lights and to the Midnight Sun, witnessing breath-taking views and creating lifelong memories.
