With idyllic beaches, year-round sunshine, colonial history and friendly locals - it's easy to see why the Caribbean is one of the world's top cruise destinations with Royal Caribbean.
Enjoy a cocktail on the beach in Barbados or visit the tropical nirvana of Atlantis Paradise Islands in the Bahamas – the Caribbean is a haven for holiday happiness. For high mountain peaks and musical roots, visit Jamaica and get a taste of Eastern Caribbean flavour. You could even head to the Cayman Islands for a chance to swim with the wildlife at Stingray City. Boasting 7,000 islands across this region, each bay and beach has its own distinct personality.
For those travelling in the early months of the year, the Dominican Republic’s Samaná Bay sees thousands of humpback whales pass through on the way to their breeding grounds. Heading to this destination later in the year? No problem. With its beauty beckoning, you can enjoy the sunshine here late into the season – a perfect remedy for the winter blues.
What are the dining options on a Royal Caribbean cruise?
My Time Dining is Royal Caribbean's flexible dining option, this enables passengers to dine in the main dining room at any time during opening hours on a first-come, first-served basis.
The alternative to My Time Dining is traditional set dining, either early or late, where you can dine at the same table and waiters every night. You should sign up for traditional dining as soon as you've booked your cruises if that's how you prefer to dine, especially if you want early dining which can get fully booked early on.
How strict is the Royal Caribbean dress code?
When you’re onboard, the right look will vary by venue. Here are a few suggestions for attire.
Casual: You’re on holiday, so relax! Jeans, polos, and blouses are all the right amount of laid back. Swimwear is limited to the Pool Deck however shorts are welcomed for breakfast and lunch.
Smart Casual: Think of this as a step up from your typical dinner wear. Dress to impress with shirts, dresses, skirts and blouses. Jackets, sports and blazers are snazzy and welcomed.
Formal: Make it a night out in your best black-tie look – suits and ties, tuxedos, cocktail dresses, or evening gowns. There can be 1-3 formal nights during a sailing and is at the ship’s discretion.
Is smoking permitted on a Royal Caribbean cruise?
This is one of the most asked questions about cruising with Royal Caribbean. Cigarettes, cigar, vaping, and pipe smoking is only permitted in designated outdoor areas. Smoking is not permitted inside any stateroom or on any stateroom balcony. Violating this rule can result in a cleaning fee of $250. Only cigarette smoking is permitted in the onboard casinos, except in areas designated as non-smoking. There are select exceptions to the casino rule: On cruise ships that depart from Australia or the United Kingdom, smoking is never allowed in the casino. On cruises that depart from China or Hong Kong, smoking is permitted everywhere in the casino.
