Arrecife Cruises

Blessed with beautiful beaches, scenery and gorgeous weather... it comes as no surprise that Lanzarote is a popular port of call. Arrecife, the main port and capital of the island, has a modern seafront and colourful gardens. First appearing on maps during the 15th century, Arrecife used to be small fishing harbour. Today, about half of the Island's population reside in Arrecife. The name Arrecife, originates from the abundance of reefs found along the coast (Arrecife means 'reef' in Spanish). With bright whitewashed houses, brightly coloured shutters and cobbled streets, Arrecife is quite the picture perfect setting.

Make the most of the Duty Free status. From cigarettes to alcohol, perfume to jewellery, you'll find the prices much cheaper than in Mainland Spain and many other places in the EU. If you're here on a Saturday, check out the market in the Botanical gardens. It's full of local traders selling everything from locally produced goods to leather goods, souvenirs and jewellery.

The local currency is the Euro. Arrecife is 1 hour ahead of Greenwich Mean Time (GMT+1).
