The port city of Brest is situated at the end of the English Channel, on the west coast of France and was first created in the 1600s as a naval base. When it comes to stunning sea views, exceptional food and wine, Brest is definitely the place to be. There's an array of other attractions too, including ‘Océanopolis' which will show you everything from tropical to polar sea life. For an insight into the naval history, check out the ‘Navy Museum' – it's housed inside Brest's impressive castle. And be sure not to miss the great views of the city - which can be had from the top of the castle's towers.
Brest holds regular flea markets which you'll come across throughout the city – they're held most days. You can purchase crafts, antiques and artefacts here. You'll also find open-air markets selling fruit, vegetables and flowers too. These markets are a great way to get a taste of the local life.
The local currency in Brest is the Euro. Brest is 1 hour ahead of Greenwich Mean Time (GMT +1).
