Another place that's worth a visit is the ‘Cementerio de la Recoleta'; home to the tomb of Eva Perón. And, whilst you're in the city, visit ‘Casa Rosada'; Argentina's presidential palace. Featuring one of the world's most famous balconies, it's been the scene of many a political gathering, particularly during the rule of Juan and Eva Peron.
Florida Street - located downtown - is a famous pedestrian street of the city, this is where you can buy clothes, jewellery, books and souvenirs. A Bottle of Malbec is a popular purchase in Buenos Aires. Renowned for their wine, Malbec is the signature grape of Argentina. There are many artisans' fairs too, including the ‘Recoleta fair', which is situated in the Francia Park, near Recoleta cemetery. Open Saturday and Sunday, It's the perfect place to purchase souvenirs and crafts.
The local currency is the Argentine peso (ARS). Buenos Aires is 4 hours behind Greenwich Mean Time (GMT -4 hours).
