Dusky Sound is a fiord on the south west corner of New Zealand, in Fiordland National Park. As you sail into port you will be greeted by sheer beauty with fjords, and blue sea around every turn. Discovered by Captain Cook in the late eighteenth century, who gave it the name ‘Dusky Sound' for time of night he found it. With its wooded islands and waterfalls cascading into the sound during the rainy season, it's one of New Zealand's most beautiful fjords. It'll take your breath away. Be sure to keep your eye out for some of the area's wildlife such as birds, dolphins, whales and seals.
Dusky Sound has no shopping facilities available.
Dusky Sound's local currency is the New Zealand dollar (NZD). Dusky Sound is 12 hours ahead of Greenwich Mean Time (GMT +12).
