Ko Samui is Thailand's third largest island. A place of tumbling waterfalls, stunning white beaches, crystalline waters and gorgeous sunshine, Ko Samui entices visitors to the island year after year… During your time you can visit the ‘Big Buddha Temple'. Built in 1972, the temple houses a huge statue of the Buddha. The ‘Wat Khunaram', with its mummified monk on display, makes for an interesting visit too. Or, if you simply want to bask in the Thai sun, head to one of Ko Samui's beaches. ‘Chaweng Beach' is one of the most popular. And there's an array of water sports available too, including windsurfing, jet skiing, snorkelling and sailing.
You'll discover products from all over Thailand available in Ko Samui. A good place for shopping is ‘Nathon town'. The two main roads here are bursting with shops and stalls selling silk goods, real leather shoes, jewellery and ceramics.
Ko Samui's local currency is the the Baht (THB). Ko Samui is 6 hours ahead of Greenwich meantime (GMT-6).
