Malaga lies on the Costa Del Sol in the Mediterranean, and is the sixth largest city of Spain. Not only does Malaga boast spectacular beaches and panoramic views but the city is rich in history and culture as it is one of the oldest cities in the world, and with so many fascinating archaeological ruins and monuments to explore, it is no wonder Malaga has been voted as a candidate for 2016 Capital of Culture. Whether you want to venture into the city to visit the birthplace of the world-famous artist Picasso, witness the panoramic views of the city on a mountain walk to Gilbralfaro Castle, explore the markets and boutiques or simply just unwind on the golden-sand beach - it's completely up to you.
There are many shopping centres around Malaga where you can find designer clothes, jewellery and accessories. To sample the local produce then try the market in the centre of the city. Remember, Spanish shopping is from 9am to 9pm, but the Spaniard's have a siesta around the time of 1-3pm so it will be unusual to find shops open at this time.
The local currency is the Euro. Malaga is 1 hour ahead of Greenwich mean time (GMT +1).
