Portovenere Cruises

Found on the Ligurian coast of Italy, Portovenere is a charming Italian Riviera village, lined with vibrant coloured houses. And, like much of Europe, Portovenere is rich in history. And, by visiting the historical sites, you can unfold it's fascinating past. Areas of interest include ‘Castello Doria' (16th century castle) and the church, ‘San Pietro', which was built in the 6th century. And, constructed in the 12th century, the 'San Lorenzo Church' is worth a visit too. There's a painting of the White Madonna here - and, according to legend, it was delivered by the sea in 1204 and miraculously altered to its current form on August 12, 1939. A gateway to the Cinque terre, Portovenere also offers the ideal opportunity to view of one of the most visited landscapes of the Mediterranean.

Just by Portovenere's marina you'll discover a small, lively market – the perfect place for a spot of souvenir hunting. You'll also come across a number of street vendors selling fruits, maps and postcards. Popular purchases in Portovenere include pottery, ceramics and olive oil.

The local currency is the Euro. Portovenere is 1 hour ahead of Greenwich Mean Time (GMT +1).
