Prince Rupert is a port city in the British Columbian province of Canada just 40 miles south of Alaska. The views as you sail into port are quite simply breath-taking with hundreds of tiny picturesque islands, spectacular mountains and a beautiful harbour to greet you. Nature lovers will love visiting 'Prince Rupert' as humpbacked whales swim around these waters and it is also home to Canada's only Grizzly Bear Sanctuary. Other attractions include 'The Museum of Northern British Columbia' which offers a whole host of exhibits telling the tales of many different cultures or you could go to the First Nations Carving Shed where artists sculpture everything in front of your very eyes from Totem poles to jewellery.
The two main shopping districts are 'Cow Bay' and 'Historic Downtown' where you will be able to find a whole host of shops, malls, boutiques and markets. It is here that you will be able to purchase clothing, jewellery, hand-crafted items, wooden carvings, woven rugs, leather goods and arts and crafts.
The local currency in Prince Rupert is the Canadian Dollar (CAD). Prince Rupert is 8 hours behind Greenwich meantime (GMT-8).
