Qaqortoq Cruises

Situated east of northern Canada, Greenland is the largest island in the world. With its icy glaciers and diverse wildlife, it's a place blessed with a stunningly scenic landscape. With 85% of the area being under ice, it comes as no surprise that one of Greenland's towns is named Qaqortoq, which means the white place. Whilst you're in Qaqortoq you can visit the ‘Hvalsey ruins', they're the most prominent Norse ruins in Greenland. Qaqortoq is also home to the only fountain in Greenland. A popular tourist attraction, the fountain portrays whales spouting water out of their blowholes. Popular activities in Qaqortoq include hiking and glacier watching.

Check out the open air market in Qaqortoq – it's located right near the town square. The market sells fruits, vegetables and other local produce and there are stalls close by that sell souvenir t-shirts, fridge magnets and postcards.

The local currency in Qaqortoq is the Krone (DKK). Qaqortoq is 1 hour behind Greenwich Mean Time (GMT -1).
