Situated in Emilia-Romagna, a region in the north east of Italy, Ravenna is a treasure chest of history, art and culture. Most famous for its rich heritage of mosaics, Ravenna's mosaics have been given the UNESCO World Heritage status. A must see, you'll discover the mosaics in eight of Ravenna's monuments and churches, including the ‘Basilica di San Vitale'. Ravenna also has a whole host of Museums including the ‘National Museum', which has a number of archaeological artefacts. And the ‘City Art Gallery', which has pieces going back to the 14th century. There are a number of fine beaches. Perfect for basking in the sun, the beaches offer scuba diving, sailing, beach volleyball and water skiing too.
With Chic fashions from all over Italy available in the boutique style shops, Ravenna is a shopper's paradise. As well as the boutiques, another popular place to buy designer clothing and shoes is at the open market, ‘Mercantino'.
The local currency is the Euro. Ravenna is 1 hour ahead of Greenwich Mean Time (GMT+1).
