Another must see is the ‘Alcazar of Columbus; a castle built in the 1500's by Diego Columbus - the son of Christopher Columbus. Santa Domingo's other popular places include the ‘Amber Museum' in Puerto Plata and the splendid gardens of Plaza de la Cultura.
