St George’s is the capital of Grenada, and the perfect place to explore this Caribbean delight. As with almost any Caribbean island, it has stunning beaches where you can unwind on the white sands and either enjoy a moment of tranquility, or on Grand Anse take part in all manner of thrilling watersports. The town itself has a picturesque pastel-shade harbour with charming bars and restaurants along the cobbled streets that’s great for a relaxing wander.
Set off inland and you’ll be able to explore Grand Etang National Park, a breath-taking destination with a lake that fills a volcanic crater. There’s also Annadale Falls, a terrific nine-metre waterfall that doubles as a relaxing spot for a cooling swim. The rainforest is also home to awesome flora and fauna, with the chance to see all kinds of tropical fruits growing along with cocoa and cinnamon plantations. Indeed the island is known as the Spice Island, and you’ll find that the charming fragrances of almond, nutmeg and vanilla abound throughout the destination.
The Eastern Caribbean Dollar is the official currency of St George’s, although the US Dollar is widely accepted. St George’s is 4 hours behind Greenwich Mean Time (GMT -4).
