MS Marco Polo Reviews

The Marco Polo was brilliant, a big thumbs up from me, a very honest, clean ship with fantastic staff. If youre looking for an itinerary focused holiday, the Marco Polo is one for you to consider as because it is smaller, it gets into those smaller, more interesting ports! The ship was a good size, not too big that we lost everyone but not too small that people became bored. The facilities are brilliant and the choice when it came to dining really exceeded our expectations. This was our first cruise and were already looking to book our next!

Just returned from a lovely trip on board the Marco Polo, The food from the Waldorf Restaurant was amazing nothing was too much trouble. The standard of care taken from every member of staff was exceptional, every single detail of the holiday was well thought out and nothing was left unplanned. The best thing was the ship was an adult only ship so no young children there to spoil the sheer relaxation which me and my other half enjoyed. Would recommend this ship and cruise line to any one who wants the traditional but informal friendly service. We have already booked our next cruise on board this lovely ship.

Friendly and Attentive crew, tasty food, fabulous ports of call, and all for a great great price. We could not fault the Marco Polo! Yes she is an older ship and does not have all the facilities that so many of the new and much larger ships have, but she certainly was full of Charm and wonderfully friendly crew.

This ship is Adult only which meant that we were able to share this beautiful ship with people of a similar age and interests. Our cabin was comfortable and well appointed, and our stewardess kept us neat and tidy and did a superb job.

We would not hesitate in returning to this ship in the near future and the fact that she sails from the UK meant that we did not have any of the hassle of an airport.

My husband and I chose this as our first taster cruise. We have friends who cruise a lot and recommended a Cruise & Maritime for a short break. We loved how relaxed it was and we met many new friends in our short time on board. Hopefully we will be sailing with the again soon.

I have just come back from the Marco Polo, we did a taster cruise which was our first ever cruise holiday and it was great. I would recommend this to anyone who is not sure if they could enjoy a cruise, we compared this to a weekend in London and this option came out cheaper with all of our food and entertainmemt included, all we had to pay for was drinks which was a lot cheaper than drinks in London! We had a standard twin inside cabin as we wanted the best price, this was fine, we didn’t get sea sick and we hardly spent anytime in there either so we had more money to spend on board. We would go on a longer cruise with this company for definate.

I have recently returned from doing the Norwegian Fjords on this lovely, intimate ship. The thing I loved about the Marco Polo was the staff to guest ratio, there was always some one on hand offering exceptional service and making me and my husband very welcome. The food was brilliant, I could not complain about that and our cabin was always cleaned daily. Our cabin steward was so nice aswell he really looked after us and ensured we were happy with how clean and tidy our cabin was. In the evening the entertainment was fantastic, I could not complain to be honest. The only thing I don’t think would appeal to people with families would be that the cruise line don’t actively promote to children/cater towards children. So if you are looking to go on the Marco Polo you wont be allowed to. This appealed to me as I am a teacher and I like to get away from children every now and then. Over all I would rate the whole cruising experience 5/5 I will definitely be returning on this ship again to do the canary and the Azores.

From the moment we boarded in Tilbury I was surprised and how Marco Polo was such a traditional vessel and yet had a modern feel . The outside teak deck space and the outside dining area are lovely and again much larger that I had thought . The dining was excellent with plenty of choice and the crew were extremely good at knowing just what I wanted . Although my cabin was one of the smaller ones everything was well thought out and the cabin steward was extremely efficient . Entertainment on board was very varied and the shore excursions were good for choice and value . All in all I would certainly sail again.

I recently went on the Marco Polo with Cruise & Maritime. My friend and I loved the attention to detail and the friendly staff couldn’t do enough for you. We were really happy with the superior outside cabin and overjoyed with the wonderful atmosphere on board. The food was fantastic and there was so much choice. We will definitely be cruising with Cruise & Maritime again.

After coming off the Marco Polo with my husband for our 60th wedding anniversary I can say that it was an amazing experience. As I wanted to go on a smaller cruise line the Marco Polo was brilliant, the service I received from the staff was impeccable and the attention to detail was next to none. Upon arrival in our cabin we had flowers and champagne and strawberries arranged with it being our wedding anniversary. In the evening they made us a gorgeous I had steak and peppercorn sauce and it was delicious. The cruise was only 5 nights however we don’t like to away too long, we sailed from Tilbury around the British isles I was worried as a first time cruiser it may have been a rocky trip but the holiday was nothing but calm. I would definitely recommend for a first time cruiser looking to go on a smaller ship to try the Marco Polo.

We have just come back from the Marco Polo by Cruise & Maritime, nice little ship, friendly staff, great ports of call and a fantastic itinerary we really enjoyed it. It is quite basic (we have sailed with Cunard before) yet it is similar to Fred Olsen (so our friends say) our friends have sailed with Fred Olsen and they said the layout of the ship and the way in which it operates is very similar to that of Fred Olsen. We enjoyed it anyway, our cabin was lovely we had a standard twin ocean view, plenty of room for the 2 of us with 2 port holes which was nice as we had one each to enjoy the lovely sea views. Adequate stroage space too, drawer space and wardrobes which was a pleasant surprise. Great value for money.

We’ve always preferred to cruise on smaller ships, but hadn’t tried Cruise and Maritime before. We sailed on the Marco Polo in October and had a fantastic time. We don’t like to fly, so the opportunity to find a ship that suited us, sailing from a location accessible to us was just what we needed. We did a Fjords itinerary, and the whole experience was perfect for us. Being a smaller capacity ship, after just a few days we felt like the staff on board knew us personally, and our cabin was kept in immaculate condition throughout the 10 nights. We will be looking to cruise with them in the near future, and have also recommended them to friends.

We have recently returned from our first cruise on-board the Marco Polo. We do prefer to cruise on the larger cruise lines but to get our chosen itinerary we needed to go on the Marco Polo. I can really recommend the North Cape and Land of Midnight Sun cruise, the itinerary is amazing and everything was very well organised by Cruise and Maritime. We did not know how we would find the smaller ship but prefer it in many ways. It was more personal and very tradition style cruising. We got to know most of the staff who were excellent and also a lot of passengers. The food was excellent and we as it was adult only it was great as we normally look after our grandchildren daily. We will definitely book to go again on the Marco Polo.

I went on the Marco Polo ship as a single passenger and really enjoyed it. The ship was not too large so I felt very comfortable walking around.

The staff were very friendly and always did everything they could to make me enjoy the cruise.

I think they mix single passengers very well and I made some great friends on-board. The food and entertainment were much better than I expected. I would recommend the ship for adults only who wanted a relaxing break away.

I had a wonderful cruise recently with Cruise&Maritime on the Marco Polo. I am a single traveller and found that there plenty of other single travellers aboard that I could socialise with, which was lovely. I loved how small the ship was, It made for a really warm and friendly atmosphere…much better than some of the larger ships I have been on. They had free tea & coffee almost all of the day, which is fabulous as I can’t seem to go the day without a few good cups of tea! The shows were fantastic and the food was great too. I have made so many friends that I am planning my next trip now, with a couple of the ladies I met on this one!

I travelled on the Marco Polo in August this year, and was a little nervous as ive never been on such a small ship. Our cabin was a great size, plenty of space for the two of us. We really enjoyed the formal evening and because the ship was smaller, we met lots of people who we saw everyday and made some great friends. The staff knew us by name by the second day and the service on board was faultless. We took lots of the ships excursions and found they weren’t at all that expensive for what we got for our money. Plenty of guidance, assistance and interesting tours that we wouldn’t have done without a guide. The food onboard was always varied and we enjoyed the whole cruise thoroughly. Would definitely cruise with Cruise & Maritime again.

Have just returned from a cruise aboard the Marco Polo. I was a little apprehensive but have to say that I was pleasantly surprised.

The Marco Polo is quite a small ship with 700 or so passengers on board, which is great to meet other passengers

It was fantastic value for money, with a great selection of food. The crew were really very helpful and caring.

All in all very pleased with my first ocean cruise, and I will be recommending this ship to others.

We sailed from Tilbury this summer and had a fabulous cruise , she is a very traditional ship which we liked with only 800 passengers when full so you get to meet people more than once .. We liked the idea she was child free , most passengers were British which we also liked The crew were exceptionally helpful and attentive , For what we paid we could not have had a better holiday !

A very traditional Cruise line, one of the friendliest ships I’ve been one!

If you love being surrounded by like minded Brits then you will certainly feel at home. She only carries 800 passengers so you wont find yourself queueing for hours just to get on and off which is bliss.

She is child free too so if you do want some peace from looking after the grandchildren this may be the Cruise for you. No flying is also a massive benefit with Tilbury Port being easily accessible and the train station located across the road.

I must say the food was a highlight, isn’t it on any ship? The Waldorf restaurant lets you choose from 2 sittings should you want the formal option, for others there is the more relaxed Marcos Restaurant. There were plenty of choices to tempt even if not feeling hungry, also the chef would be willing to make up something more simple if requested, even if it wasn’t on the menu.

My cabin was nice, basic, but I didn’t spend too much time in there to be honest. I loved the Piano player in the Columbus lounge, he should be in Vegas?

For the price you pay you get excellent service, excellent company and no flying. Hallelujah.

Just got back from a week’s cruise on board the Marco Polo, even though some people find the ship a little dated the attention to detail is impeccable. The staff were so friendly and are always on hand to help you with any questions you may have. The ship is a smaller ship so this means the ports we managed to get to are a lot different and smaller more off the beaten track. Will be booking myself onto another cruise.

A small cruise liner but they say good things come in small packages and it certainly did. Great value for money cruise, from dining, entertainment and the service given on board.
