Perfect for those seeking true adventure, MS Fram is a charming ship offering expedition cruises. As such, don’t expect a wealth of leisure facilities on-board, although there is a gym, sauna and two outdoor Jacuzzis to help you unwind after a day trekking through your destinations.
Beyond this though, entertainment is limited, with guests preferring to relax with a drink and swap stories of what they’ve seen on their travels that day. There is a bistro restaurant and a buffet though, to ensure all guests can enjoy menus to suit them, with locally sourced ingredients providing fresh fare.
Hurtigruten boasts one of the first vegan menus at sea, boasting an inventive and tasty selection of dishes from breakfast right through to dinner. The main dining venue on-board MS Fram is Imaq, which aptly means ‘sea’ in the Inuit language. Here, guests can enjoy a quality breakfast and lunch buffets featuring cereals, cold meats, crusty bread and a salad bar, while a fantastic dinner menu is welcomed in the evenings which draws on the ship’s location to offer the best fresh produce. Enjoy dishes of baked trout and roast pork, with plenty on offer to suit all tastes. There is also a small Bistro by reception which offers hot drinks and light snacks.
There is a range of inside and outside cabins to choose from, along with suites on-board MS Fram. Take your pick from Polar Inside and Polar Outside staterooms, Arctic Superior, and Expedition Suite. Some of the suites have a balcony, offering the perfect place to see this breath-taking part of the world from the comfort of your own private accommodation.
Many days on-board MS Fram can simply be spent on the spacious outdoor decks observing marine life as you explore the Polar Regions. However, there are a few public spaces which you can enjoy should you need to sit back and relax. Take a dip in the Jacuzzis or visit the sauna to help soothe your senses after a busy day exploring. The Qilak Observation Lounge offers comfortable seating and large panoramic views, with binoculars to observe wildlife from afar. Get cosy beside the faux fireplace in Nunami, where couches and chairs present the perfect spot for socialising. There are also two lecture rooms on-board MS Fram, each seating 100 guests for learning about the polar worlds.
Children under the age of five are not permitted on-board MS Fram for sailings to Antarctica, however there is no age restriction for any other destinations.
The main focus of entertainment on-board MS Fram is to let you unwind in peace and get closer to nature, and as such there aren’t as many entertainment features on-board as you may find on other cruise lines. Mother Nature is the prime provider of entertainment on-board MS Fram, whether it’s watching her pass by the decks or exploring the landscapes on foot during an excursion. However, you can relax with a drink in the Qilak Observation Lounge, where panoramic windows offer amazing views as you sail through the Arctic Circle or the impressive coastline of Antarctica./p>
