MS Nordnorge Reviews

What a wonderful way to see the Northern Lights. My friend recommended Hurtigruten to me and I must admit I thought they were just ferries! I was wrong.

The Nordnorge is stunning. She’s a lovely intimate vessel carrying only 450 passengers. No Queues. Bliss.

Can you believe I had 33 stops on a 6-day sailing. I breathed in the fresh Norwegian Air every day. This is not for the faint hearted as although she’s a lovely ship you do have to do some things for yourself. Take your own luggage up the gangway being one of them!!

There is a daily programme like on the Cruise Ships and polished Brass gleaming throughout. She’s a very traditional ship, all solid wood, lots of nautical themed artwork and even a playroom onboard which I do admit it was very rarely used. It was nice to see families exploring Norway together. You can play anywhere, the geographical knowledge is irreplaceable.

No dress codes, no tips needed, just enjoy the beautiful scenery and have a relaxing time. Its far better than the seven-night normal Norwegian Fjord sailings by a mile.

We chose the Ms Nordnorge with Hurtigruten as we wanted to sail the Norwegian Fjords and make sure we made the most of it. There were plenty of other cruise lines offering sailings, but Hurtigruten were far more in depth with the itinerary, so we went for that option – and how glad we are that we did!

The sailing was incredible and the scenery superb.

The ship, although basic in comparison to other cruise ships, still offered excellent standards of food and service, and the cabin was exactly what we needed, nothing more, nothing less.

We loved the fact that the ship has no dress code, and that they don’t expect tips on board, as most do these days – although the staff are certainly worth it.

For a real in depth insight in to Norway, we would really recommend Hurtigruten. Everything ran like clockwork and the ship, staff, facilities were excellent for what we wanted. We feel we got to see the best of the country and far more than we would have done with any other ship.

Excellent all round!
