Richard With Dining

Dining

When it comes to dining on-board then you will enjoy an array of mouth-watering dishes from the main dining room – Polar Restaurant. The menus are carefully selected and prepared from fresh ingredients and local produce, to ensure you thoroughly enjoy your breakfast, lunch and evening meal. What’s more, the dining room boasts large windows so you can enjoy panoramic views whilst enjoying your meal. Alternatively, if you want something a little less formal then you can find buffet-style meals in the Los Holtes Café which is open 24 hours for your convenience. There is also the Raftsundet restaurant, though this is a dinner-only venue.

Richard With Suite

Accommodation

There are many classes of stateroom and suite to choose from on-board MS Richard With, including Polar Inside, Polar Outside, Arctic Superior and Expedition Suite. Each room is completed with contemporary styles and comfortable furnishings to ensure it feels like a real home-from-home.

Richard With Activities

Activities

When it comes to those days at sea you will find this ship offers a whole host of leisure activities to suit every taste. The expedition team offers lectures, presentations and activities to enjoy dependent on the destinations and regions included on your itinerary. Alternatively, head to the Internet Café to explore the web or simply keep in touch with people back home or head to the shops and purchase some Hurtigruten souvenirs. The fitness centre on-board MS Richard With has everything you need for a good work out with state-of-the-art equipment, while there is also a sauna, playroom and sun deck to enjoy the on-board facilities.

Hurtigruten does not allow children under five to travel to Antarctica, with no other age restrictions elsewhere. Though MS Richard With does offer a playroom for children, the ship does not majorly cater to younger audiences, so bear this in mind if you’re looking to travel with family.

Richard With Entertainment

Entertainment

There are various bars and lounges on the ship including; Draugen, the Observation Lounge and Panorama where you can find a relaxing setting and enjoy a glass of wine amongst friends. However, entertainment is different on-board MS Richard With as, instead of cabaret and Broadway-style shows, you will find the entertainment comes in the form of the incredible views and scenic landscapes that you pass on your voyage.

I had wanted to visit Norway in search of the Northern Lights since seeing Joanna Lumley on TV a couple of years ago. It was with much excitement we booked our excursions Husky dog sledding and the village on the Lofoten Islands were particular favourites. The alcohol prices on-board were as expensive as we had expected however we enjoyed a few drams to warm us in our cabin! The accommodation was very comfortable and spotless as all things Scandinavian appear to be. As we sailed along the coast calling in sometimes just for a few minutes and at others for half a day we were fascinated by the birds eye view of life in these often tiny communities. The food on-board was excellent although we were pleased we had opted for the full board trip as lunch and a drink would have been over £20 per person . We also pre paid a coffee and tea package which were good value. We did get several glimpses of the Lights although often very hazy rather than the fireworks spectacular on perceived TV but we could still feel the magic as we watched in awe. We spent a night at the Ice Hotel at the end of the trip it was one of the most crazy places I have ever paid to stay but I would not have missed it for the world.
