Here’s what Cruise118.com’s Adam Arkinstall thought of his time aboard Royal Princess.
Before I even stepped aboard Royal Princess, I knew it was going to be something special. The overwhelming size of the ship was really quite imposing, and with the sky bridge protruding overhead, it is certainly a sight I won’t forget in a hurry.
Once on-board I was absolutely spoiled for choice. Royal Princess’ array of bars, restaurants and entertainment is incredible. Just walking around the ship makes you feel like you are in a small town, and if you’re not too good with directions (like me) you might just get lost!

I was left speechless the first time I took the lift to deck 16. I stepped out of what seemed like a huge hotel/shopping mall onto a deck littered with pools, sun beds, Jacuzzis and a giant TV screen, all of which lights up at night which creates a completely different and ultra-modern feel perfect for an evening drink. The giant screen was used for Princess’ Movies Under the Stars nights. They supplied everyone with blankets, milk and warm, freshly-baked cookies, while we all sat back in our comfy reclining chairs and watch a film on the massive display.
The ship is literally a floating holiday resort with everything you could ever wish for within a short walk or lift journey. I especially enjoy eating in the ships Italian specialty restaurant Sabatini’s, where I tucked into a delicious lobster dish – something I had never tried before but will certainly be ordering again.
Dining wasn’t just a formal affair though, and I really loved picking up a tasty snack at The Pastry Shop and an ice cream sundae from Gelatos. I also made the most of the fresh pizza served at Alfredo’s Pizzeria – I can never resist a slice of pepperoni.

Perhaps the only criticism I had of the ship was that I felt the décor catered more towards the American market. Waiting for a lift sometimes took what seemed like an age but if you’re looking to stay fit then there is always the option of the stairs. Sadly I didn’t embrace this more health conscious way of getting around the ship – I’ve never been one to take the stairs!
I thoroughly enjoyed every second on-board Royal Princess. It showed me what cruising was all about – amazing features aboard a stunning ship and fantastic service from an always friendly and utterly attentive crew. I would set sail aboard this ship in a heartbeat – what an amazing experience.
