In need of a weekend getaway with a loved one? A UK cruise is the perfect way to unwind with a home away from home scenic experience, featuring many activities and dining options to choose from, all provided at amazing value!

We compared the costs of a three-night UK roundtrip cruise with Princess Cruises Scenic Voyage on Sky Princess, sailing from Southampton September 10th -13th, with a weekend getaway to London in a 5-star city centre hotel for the same dates for a couple, (two adults).

When booking a cruise, you’re paying for much more than accommodation on-board a ship. Princess Cruises Sky Princess sailings has so much to offer, such as a wide variety of dining options including steakhouse, pizzeria, American, Italian, and other international cuisine. An extensive choice of entertainment is available on-board also, including movies under the stars, escape rooms, the princess theatre, bars, top deck parties and more!

To put this into perspective we took a deep dive into comparing dining options on-board Sky Princess with similar rated restaurants around London. On-board Sky Princess a unique dining experience is available each night, however a London staycation requires extra money to incorporate into budgeting. Typically, two adults would spend around £440 on lunch and dinner (not including drinks and snacks), in comparison to the dining and drink package standards on-board Sky Princess.

The graph above highlights comparable dinner options in London for three nights would cost over £320, in comparison to the standard of dining options on-board Sky Princess, the additional price for dining on-board is £0. On average, the total for all dining expenses, (including drinks) in London for 3- nights for a couple is £640, a large amount to consider when budgeting for a city break staycation.

Entertainment on-board a cruise is also included in the initial costing of itineraries displayed, whereas for a couple to experience a West End production it would cost £194 for one night’s entertainment. Other entertainment such as spa treatments, a trip to the cinema or escape rooms would cost an additional £93 at least to consider within budgeting on top of dining and accommodation.

A weekend cruise offers an all-inclusive break with West End style shows, fine dining, spas and luxurious accommodation and all for almost half the cost of a city break! What are you waiting for? Book your weekend seacation today!
