One of these trips was aboard Princess Cruises, with our staff enjoying some time aboard Sapphire Princess. See what they thought of life on-board below!

Initial impressions

We spent three nights aboard Sapphire Princess, starting with a smooth embarkation process which lasted around 20 minutes for us to get on-board.

Despite being a 14-year-old ship, the décor still reminded us of a grand New York hotel, while still remaining traditional and holding typical Princess Cruises’ traits.

Life on-board

During our time on-board we saw an Inside and a Balcony cabin. The Inside cabin offers plenty of space for two, and the Balcony size was great. There’s a mini walk-in wardrobe and plenty of space to get ready. As the ship had been recently refurbished, the television was large and modern, featuring plenty of the latest films to sit and relaxing watching.

Movies under the stars - Sapphire Princess - Princess Cruises

One of the key highlights on-board is the Movies Under the Stars. Available both day and night, this is an exclusive open-air poolside amphitheatre which is the go-to destination for feature films, concerts and sports. With cookies and milk provided in the day, blankets and popcorn at night it’s a great way to spend quality time together.

There are five dining options on-board Sapphire Princess, with most of these being informal. These included the main dining room, alongside four speciality restaurants: Alfredo’s Pizzeria, International Café, Horizon Court, and Trident Grill.

Sapphire Princess - Princess Cruises

We dined in the main dining room where there is a choice of four starters, mains, and desserts. These options changed each evening, but there were always classic choices which featured on every menu. We also visited the buffet where the food was always brilliant, well cooked and tasty!

When sailing with Princess Cruises, the fare includes standard meals but not drinks. One of us purchased the Premier Beverage Package which covered top shelf spirits. We were very impressed with this as many other cruise lines definitely do not offer it.

Our verdict

The size of the ship meant that were weren’t short of places to sit and relax or get a drink. One of the standout venues was the nightclub, which was the biggest any of us have seen onboard! There was a brilliant DJ on-board which did not disappoint during our time on-board with something for everyone to get into the dancing mood creating a great atmosphere.

We think that any walk of life could enjoy this cruise line as they have a great range of facilities for families, couples, and solo travellers young and old.
