When you think of a cruise, you may picture open waters, blue sky and relaxing around the pool. However, there is way more to a cruise than that – there are things you can do on a cruise that you may have never even considered!

With so much to experience on-board and on land, a cruise makes for a holiday of a lifetime and one thing is for certain – you will never be bored. Whether you are a young family looking for plenty of kid’s entertainment, a couple searching for an interesting escape from reality or a solo cruiser after some time off the grid – there is something for you.

1. Laser Tag

Believe it or not, laser tag is a pretty popular activity aboard many cruise lines, and the experience can vary on all of them. On some cruise ships, you will find a dedicated laser tag arena, whereas on others the laser tag venue can differ based on the theme of the game. Some ships, such as some NCL ships actually offer laser tag alongside augmented reality so you can experience different gems of the past whilst playing.

2. Go-Karting

You may think go-karting on a cruise ship is pretty impossible, however you would be wrong! Fortunately, many cruise liners span thousands of square feet therefore its no problem to add an impressive track for go-karting. In fact, many cruise ships have large go-karting tracks that span the ship so you can race your family and friends whilst you sail across the open water.

3. Skydiving

Royal Caribbean’s range of ships offer some of the most impressive things to do on a cruise, such as rock climbing and a mini-golf course however you may be shocked to learn you can now skydive on-board too. The RipCord by iFly offers cruisers the chance to dive into a 23-foot-high wind tunnel and experience what it is like to free-fall.

4. Visit an Ice Bar

For those who aren’t seeking quite as much of a thrill, you can also find ice bars on-board some cruise ships. On-board the Norwegian Breakaway ship you will find exactly that! Relax and unwind with a drink in hand at the one-of-a-kind ice bar – complete with bulbs that replicate the northern lights.

5. Surfing

If the cold isn’t your thing, you will find surf-simulators on-board Royal Caribbean ships so you can practice your surf skills. Whether you are a seasoned professional or a complete beginner the surf simulator is a fun activity for the whole family to enjoy – even if you just choose to watch the spectacle from the stands.

6. Ice-Skating

In complete contrast to the warm weather you will find outside whilst on a Royal Caribbean cruise, you can wrap up warm and enjoy ice skating on-board. Ice-skating on-board the ship is completely complimentary, and you don’t even have to worry about bringing ice skates, you can hire them on the ship!

We could go on forever as there is so much you can do on a cruise – but we hope we have inspired you to try something new on your next trip. Whether it be relaxing in the ice bar, skating on the ice-rink or speed racing your go-kart around the ship! Check out our 2022 deals to see where your next cruise could take you.
