P&O Cruises has just revealed that it is to host classical singer Alfie Boe on one of its just-announced short break voyages next year.
The star will perform on P&O Cruises’ Azura during her four-night cruise break, which departs from Southampton during the May half-term holiday. The ship sets sail on May 26 and calls at Belgium and Guernsey. It’s one of four short break sailings which P&O Cruises has scheduled for 2014. The other voyages take place on the Aurora on October 11, for a three-night journey to Belgium, with both Oriana and Oceana sailing to Amsterdam and Belgium for four nights on November 6 and December 13 respectively.
Christopher Edgington, P&O CruisesMarketing Director, said: “We are thrilled to have Alfie Boe performing on Azura. He’s a big name British act who has performed to huge crowds at the O2 Arena, Royal Albert Hall and Buckingham Palace. This will be a very special and intimate performance, which passengers of all ages can enjoy, for no extra charge other than the price of the cruise”.
The director went on to explain a little about the thinking behind P&O Cruises short breaks, saying: “These short-break cruises are a great alternative to a hotel/city break and perfect for those who have never cruised before.”
The four short break voyages are the latest news from P&O Cruises, which recently announced that it will launch Britannia, the biggest ship ever built for the British cruise market, in 2015. Britannia is set to cater for 4,372 passengers, weighing in at 141,000 gross tons and measuring 1,083 feet in length.
