Norwegian Cruise Line Welcomes Guests Aboard the All-New Norwegian Viva
Norwegian Cruise Line celebrated a momentous occasion today as it welcomed the first guests aboard its highly anticipated new ship, Norwegian Viva. Departing from Venice (Trieste), Italy, Norwegian Viva embarked on its maiden voyage, treating guests to a nine-day Mediterranean journey.
The itinerary includes stops at some of Europe’s most stunning seaside destinations, such as Salerno, Cannes, and Ibiza. With its carefully curated itinerary, Norwegian Viva offers guests the opportunity to explore the picturesque Amalfi Coast and the vibrant cities of the French Riviera. The ship will continue to sail Greek Isles and Mediterranean voyages until November before making San Juan, Puerto Rico its homeport for a season in the Caribbean.
President of Norwegian Cruise Line, David J. Herrera, expressed his excitement about Norwegian Viva, stating, “Norwegian Viva’s tagline is ‘Live it Up,’ and I have no doubt our guests will be doing just that while they cruise to some of the liveliest cities in Europe and the Caribbean during the ship’s inaugural season.”
Inspired by its award-winning sister ship, Norwegian Prima, Norwegian Viva boasts a plethora of outstanding onboard experiences. Highlights include the three-level racetrack, Viva Speedway, and the upscale food market, Indulge Food Hall, featuring 11 unique eateries. Adrenaline junkies will be thrilled by the fastest slides at sea, The Drop and Rush, while sustainability enthusiasts can enjoy the industry-exclusive Metropolitan Bar – a sustainable cocktail bar.
Art enthusiasts will be captivated by the extensive art collection aboard Norwegian Viva. The ship features The Concourse, a striking outdoor sculpture garden, and an interactive 52-foot-wide digital art piece created by contemporary British artist Dominic Harris. Additionally, Norwegian Viva offers a world-class entertainment lineup, featuring the Tony Award®-nominated comedy “Beetlejuice The Musical” and the immersive game show “Press Your Luck LIVE,” where guests have a chance to win incredible grand prizes.
Following the maiden voyage, Norwegian Viva will sail a series of Mediterranean and Greek Isles itineraries before its official Christening ceremony in Miami on November 28, 2023.
