MSC Meraviglia, which translates as ‘wonder’, is certainly set to live up to her name, being one of the largest and most feature-packed cruise ships to sail the ocean waves. At 1,082 feet long, she will cater to 4,500 passengers and spend the first part of her inaugural season sailing the ever-popular Western Mediterranean from three different home ports across the region – Barcelona, Marseille and Genoa, meaning plenty of choice when it comes to fly-cruises.
The ship will feature a large outdoor waterpark be connected to an indoor amusement park, which will spread across two of the ship’s decks. The two-deck layout is set to be a common feature ship-wide, with an entertainment area and also an interior promenade to be built in the style of a Mediterranean village and featuring a ‘digital sky’ created by a state-of-the-art LED ceiling.
In what is great news for cruising families, the ship will feature interlinked cluster cabins, which will allow up to three cabins to be linked together so as to better accommodate large family groups. MSC Meraviglia will also feature the popular ‘ship within a ship’ MSC Yacht Club, in which it will debut duplex suites and also feature a solarium, lounge and its own restaurant.
MSC Meraviglia promises a truly tech-savvy experience, thanks to its Near Field Communication, which involves passengers using their cruise cards, wristbands or smart phones to make payments, book on-board restaurants and spa treatments and even geo-locate their children on-board.
