Are bar prices expensive on a cruise ship?
It really does depend on how much you drink while on your cruise. Bar prices do vary depending on which line you travel with and what you’re drinking. They’ll also vary slightly depending on exchange rates if the line you are travelling with charges in dollars.
A cost of a bottle beer or glass of wine can cost anything between around three and five pounds, and though that may not be much different than you can expect to pay in a club or restaurant on land, it’s important to remember that some lines apply a surcharge on top of the listed price, usually around 15 per cent per drink, so the price can soon mount up.
A number of lines offer drinks packages which are the cheapest option if you intend to drink regularly during your cruise and with the luxury cruise lines, though your cruise will be more expensive, your drinks will be complimentary.
For drinkers of spirits with mixers or for those who do not drink alcohol, most lines offer soft drinks packages, which will work out cheaper for you if you intend on drinking regularly.
