Summer is well underway and people around the world are putting on their best bikini or swimming shorts and heading to the beach. There is almost too much choice when it comes to unwinding by the coast in Antigua, with a beach for every preference, from secluded stretches of tranquil coastline to bustling beaches lined with tourist-centric shops, bars and eateries.
Scuba diving is especially popular along Antigua’s scenic shoreline, as the crystal clear waters that surround the island are filled with colourful reefs and tropical fish. Snorkelling is also a great way to observe this underwater wonderland and there are plenty of places to rent out the necessary gear.
Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
Rio de Janeiro is an iconic city, located on Brazil’s Atlantic coast, and its world-famous beaches are unrivalled across South America. Rio’s party atmosphere resonates from its vibrant coastline and there is always plenty to see and do along its beaches, from exhilarating water sports and volleyball, to sunbathing and people watching.
Perhaps Rio de Janeiro most well-known stretch of coastline is Copacabana Beach. This four kilometre beach is at the heart of Rio’s identity and the area is home to a host of shops, bars and restaurants. Other notable beaches across the city’s shoreline include Ipanema, Arpoador and Barra da Tijuca Beach.

Phuket’s sun-soaked landscape offers the perfect setting for coastal relaxation and tourists can choose from an array of marvellous beaches across the island.
From lively beaches packed with holidaymakers to peaceful corners of remote coastline, Phuket offers a beach for every mood. Sydney, Australia
Sydney may be best known for its collection of iconic landmarks, which draw sightseers from around the world, but the city’s beaches are the biggest draw for surfers, droves of whom make the pilgrimage to the world-famous Bondi Beach each year to surf the region’s world-famous waves. The shoreline is suitable for both beginners and expert surfers, so why not throw on a wet suit and give it a go!
For those who are not interested in surfing, Bondi Beach is also a great place to relax, take a walk to view the local scenery and landmarks or browse the beachside shops and bars. Be aware that as such as well-known area, Bondi Beach is often very busy.
