Celebrity announces brand-new ship class

Celebrity Cruises

Celebrity Cruises has recently announced that it has plans for two brand-new ships to be released in autumn 2018 and early 2020, which will be part of an all-new ship class.

The new 984ft vessels will be developed under the name Project EDGE, cater to 2,900 guests each and continue the contemporary theme of the modern luxury experience offered by the line’s existing Millennium and Solstice Class vessels.

President and Chief Executive Officer of Celebrity Michael Bayley explained: “Our new class of ship will set the standard for premium world travel and deliver the next generation of modern luxury experiences that our guests know and love … we will bring our guests even closer to the must-see destinations of the world, while indulging them on-board in the most luxurious accommodation, the finest culinary experiences, and the best hospitality delivered by our dedicated staff.”

Granted a leading role in helping to create that premium experience is the highly-respected cruise ship building and design company STX France. Managing Director Laurent Castaing was enthusiastic, about the announcement, commenting: “This class of ships will be designed to deliver the destination to vacationers who want to experience all the world has to offer.”

The ships will also represent a major step forward in environmentally-conscious cruising, showcasing new technologies which will improve fuel efficiency and a process of using sustainable materials wherever possible.
