Where should you cruise this winter?

Winter cruises

As we head closer and closer to the end of summer, many people will be dreading the approaching winter season – when the nights are longer, the days are colder and the sun is unlikely to make much of an appearance across the UK.

So why put up with the British winter? Why not simply set sail for sunnier climes and enjoy what are usually the coldest months of the year somewhere hotter, where you won’t need to wrap up warm every day? Winter cruises are the perfect option to beat the winter blues, so read on to see where we think you should cruise to in late 2014 and early 2015.

Caribbean

A classic Caribbean cruise offers the ultimate in sun, sea and sand – especially from October to February when the weather in Britain is often abysmal. You could be sunning yourself on the sun-soaked and picturesque islands of Barbados, St Lucia and St Maarten amongst many others and enjoying a tropical environment far away from the bleak British winter.

Far and Middle East

The exotic Far East and the intriguing Middle East offer a fascinating and spectacular escape from the cold and mundane. You could visit a plethora of diverse and exciting ports across these amazing regions, from the bustling and vibrant cities across China, Japan and UAE to the quaint coastal communities of Cambodia and Vietnam.

The Canaries

Situated off western coast of Africa, the Canary Islands – which include Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote and La Palma amongst many other smaller islands – boast a warm year-round climate. Enjoy a scuba diving trip in the glistening ocean waters, explore the island’s wonderful towns and cities or simply relax on the beach in the sun – the choice is yours!

You can escape to these marvellous destinations this winter with a number of renowned cruise lines for much less than you might expect. Fred.Olsen, for example, are currently offering a fantastic Warmer Cruising deal, sailing guests to sunny destinations across the world from October 2014 to March 2015 for an amazing price.
