Cunard Captain Inger Thorhauge’s Captain’s Log shares insights into what’s happened at the shipyard since Queen Anne’s float out in May this year. Her latest update gives guests the opportunity to find out more about the reimagined guest spaces on-board.
Since her float out, Queen Anne has been moved from a construction dock to a fitting-out basin nearby, with the fit-out being in full swing, the once bare metal walls are currently being transformed and brought to life with beautiful design and decor, which are expected to become a hallmark to the ship.
The ship’s design sees a collaboration between David Collins Studio, Richmond International and Sybille de Margerie, creating a modern approach to the on-board guest spaces including entertainment venues, suites and decor. Their portfolios include luxury hotels, spas, restaurants, bars, high-end yachts and private grand residences and they are bringing with them their experience, skills and attention to detail to create stunning spaces on-board Queen Anne.
Captain Inger Thorhauge comments “Passing through the Queens Room, it is easy to imagine the magnificent spectacle of Afternoon Tea (served by our white-gloved waiters and waitresses of course!) being enjoyed by the accompaniment of a string quartet.
And, nearby, our on-board boutiques will offer a very exclusive retail experience for our guests who will be able to browse beautiful goods from many of the world’s most famous luxury brands.
Perhaps the most striking transformation in recent weeks has been in the Royal Court Theatre.
There is now no mistaking the beautiful design and layout of this fantastic space”.
The theatre will seat over 800 guests and spans two decks, ensuring exceptional comfort. Richmond International is the design team behind the theatre taking inspiration from some of the great sound halls from around the world.
In addition to the work on the large public spaces, Queen Anne’s suites and staterooms work is also underway. The Queens Grill Grand Suites, designed by David Collins Studio represents the pinnacle of luxury accommodation at sea.
The Princess Grills Suites, designed by Sybille de Margerie give a nod to Cunard’s heritage, with patterned wall panels inspired by the flowing lines of the cruise line’s past liners.
Captain Inger Thorhauge adds “Once completed, and tested, each stateroom is given a thorough quality assessment so that we know our Queen Anne guests will receive the uniquely iconic Cunard experience. Precision is absolutely imperative, and seeing the development of the ship’s accommodation, room by room, deck by deck, is truly impressive – just like every other aspect of Queen Anne!”
