Cruise holidays are usually seen as a time to lay back, relax, and let go of all your cares and worries. Some people, however, do not share this laid-back attitude towards their voyage and would prefer to use their time as productively as possible. A number of cruise lines offer the opportunity for passengers to learn new skills whilst on-board and take part in a fascinating enrichment programs or classes. This blog will discuss some of the marvellous new skills that travellers can learn aboard some of the industry’s best cruise ships, courtesy of the trained professionals and experts on-board.

Oceania Cruises

Oceania Cruises provides guests with several opportunities to learn new skills whilst at sea. From cooking to painting, these great on-board classes can help passengers develop a talent and have fun while they learn.

Bon Apetit Culinary Centre

At the Bon Appetit Culinary Centre, travellers can truly immerse themselves in the joy of preparing New skillshigh quality gourmet cuisine under the guidance of expert master chefs in a profession kitchen environment. The course is produced in partnership with Bon Appetit, the USA’s foremost food and wine publication, and is the only cooking class at sea with a hands-on approach to learning. Develop your knowledge of various culinary delights with this excellent on-board program and learn the secrets of homemade pasta amongst a range of other gastronomic endeavours.

Artist Loft

At the Artist Loft enrichment centre currently featured aboard the Marina and Riviera, guests can learn the techniques and secrets for mastering a number of artistic skills, from photography to painting. Led by renowned artists, these classes are perfect for beginners looking for a good place to start working on their art through to advanced artists hoping to hone their skills.

Crystal Cruises

Ultra-luxurious cruise line Crystal Cruises also offer a number of on-board enrichment classes, designed to enhance passenger’s knowledge on several subjects including wine and world languages.

Wine Tasting

Wine lovers travelling with Crystal Cruises will have the opportunity to take part in wine tasting New skillssessions, guided by knowledgeable instructors sharing their insights into the key points when it come to sampling your favourite wines. Instructions will be provided by members of the Society of Wine Educators to help you understand the ins and outs of the wine world while at sea.

Berlitz Language Classes

Language classes from well-known language specialists Berlitz are available to passengers aboard many of Crystal Cruises vessels. A variety of language lessons are on offer, covering a number of native tongues, from Spanish and German to Italian and French. Class topics usually depend on the on the destinations included on your itinerary, so you can learn some new phrases to use in port.

Computer University@Sea

Are you a technophobe? Do you feel lost in front of a computer screen? If so, Crystal’s Computer University@Sea offers the perfect solution. Featuring a collection of state-of-the-art 27 inch screen Apple Macs, the Crystal Computer Lab is open to guests 24 hours a day, offering fast into connection to all. Beginners can attend informative and engaging computer classes, teaching them the basics of computer use, as well as more advanced skills, covering a wide variety of functions and application.

Cunard Cruises

RADA Acting Workshops

Passengers travelling aboard Cunard’s Queen Mary 2 will have access to a series of RADA Acting New skillsWorkshops, led by experienced performers from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. The course leaders will share the knowledge that they have gained in their years with RADA in the form of 45-minute workshops. Each workshop offers advice on an array of acting techniques and drama skills, whilst maintaining a fun, creative and upbeat atmosphere.
