Music cruises just keep coming

Music cruises

The music-themed cruise holiday is really beginning to take off in popularity with all different genres of band and musician being paired with fantastic cruise ships, opening up the possibility of relaxing on a typical cruise while you take in concerts by some of the giants of the music world – both current and those harking back to previous generations.

You’ll have hopefully seen some of the blog posts we’ve already put on here about some of these specific voyages. My personal favourite is still the Weezer cruise, with the band playing a gig on a private island as well as having various other bands live on the ship, the Carnival Fascination. The Paramore cruise, ‘Parahoy!’, is another exciting option, taking place on the Norwegian Pearl.

If, however, you’re more the kind of person who has an interest in 80s and 90s boy bands, then I may have a new option that could get you excited. New Kids on the Block have just announced their own cruise, departing from New York in June 2014 on-board the Carnival Splendor. It’s not for me, but I’m sure there are thousands of people out there who would love to spend two nights in the company of one of the biggest boy bands of all time.

P&O Cruises have an 80s cruise in association with the live show Here And Now, with performances by artists including Paul Young, Heaven 17, Toyah Wilcox and more. They also have specialist cruises featuring Katherine Jenkins and David Essex, so you really are spoiled for choice.

Or there is the Moody Blues Cruise, the ‘Return to the Isle of Wight’. It actually sails to the Bahamas, but it’s in tribute to the spirit of the Isle of Wight Festival. It’ll also feature Roger Daltry, and numerous other bands such as The Zombies, Starship and more top names.

Who would you like to host a themed music cruise next?
