Music Festival cruises

Music festival cruises

While I love my job regardless of the topic I’m covering, there’s no doubt that I really enjoy writing about something I’m particularly close to. And that’s the case here, as I bring you details of some of the amazing ‘music festivals at sea’ taking place in 2014 featuring two of my favourite bands.

There’s been a new announcement made that Paramore, the rock band fronted by Hayley Williams, will be sailing on the Norwegian Pearl in March. The voyage, named ‘Parahoy!’, will feature live performances and Q&As with the band along with other supporting acts, with other activities to be made clear in the near future. The only act announced so far is duo Tegan and Sara, with more names to be announced.

There’ll be a number of stages on the ship so guests can enjoy a real festival atmosphere across the four days, with the ship departing from Miami and travelling to the Caribbean on an as-yet un-clarified itinerary.

And Paramore aren’t the only band who are headlining a rock cruise. Weezer have announced their 2014 Bahamas cruise, which will sail from Florida in February. It’s not the first time Weezer have headlined a cruise, and this will be an exceptional holiday with a number of supporting bands.

Guests on the 2014 cruise will enjoy live performances not just from Weezer but from Palma Violets, Ozma, Cat Power, Toro Y Moi and Ash, among others. As well as fun itinerary in the Bahamas, guests can enjoy live music not just on-board but at a beach concert on a private island.

It truly is something special, with interactive Weezer game show, a Q&A session, the chance to have photos with the band, a cocktail party with open bar and more, as well as full use of the ship’s facilities.

I’m already trying to find a way to get on both of these cruises, and I’m excited to see who else is approached to play on their own music cruise. Let me know who you would love to see play live on a cruise in the comments, but in the mean time for the uninitiated, here’s a song each from Paramore and Weezer, so you can see if you think you’d enjoy one of these voyages:

Edit: Paramore have since announced the full line-up for their Parahoy! cruise. Other acts joining the band include New Found Glory, Shiny Toy Guns, mewithoutYou, Bad Rabbits and Reuben Wu.
