Carnival Cruise Line have recently announced it will be the first cruise line to feature ‘Big Chicken’, with the restaurant included on-board Carnival Radiance when she sails in 2020.

Once Carnival Radiance emerges from her $200 million dry dock in early 2020, ‘Big Chicken’ will be one of the all-new features on-board.

Big Chicken - Carnival Cruise Line

The restaurant is created by Carnival Cruise Line’s Chief Fun Officer and NBA Hall of Famer, Shaquille O’Neal, which he initially opened in Las Vegas in October 2018. The star said that opening the restaurant has always been a goal of his and that the recipes are all based on his own.

“Big Chicken has been a dream of mine and now that our land-based restaurant is open, it’s only natural to bring it to sea, as well,” said O’Neal. “I’m really excited that Carnival Radiance guests will be able to enjoy my own delicious creations alongside burgers and BBQ from Guy Fieri and the other great food offerings on board.”

The menu will feature an array of fried chicken favourites including chicken sandwiches, which are inspired by clever nicknames that Shaq has for himself including ‘Shaq Daddy’ and ‘Big Aristotle’.

The restaurant will also offer breakfast which includes choices like chicken and egg biscuits and three-cheese omelettes – with breakfast served all day! Service is super-quick, with guests able to step up to the counter for lunch and dinner, take their pick of chicken sandwiches, crispy chicken strips, juicy fried chicken baskets – plus side dishes like potato salad and jalapeño slaw.

Guests also don’t need to worry about paying extra when visiting as the restaurant is included in the prices of your cruise!

Christine Duffy, President of Carnival Cruise Line said:

“Shaq has brought so much to our brand as Chief Fun Officer and we are always looking for ways to expand on this wonderful relationship and provide our guests with new ways to Choose Fun. Knowing his passion for food and fun, we’re thrilled to work with Shaq to bring the first Big Chicken at sea aboard the totally transformed Carnival Radiance.”
