NCL acquires Prestige Cruises

Norwegian Cruise Line

In a high-profile move, family cruise line NCL has acquired Prestige Cruises Holdings – the parent company of Oceania and Regent Seven Seas Cruises.

The $3 billion merger took place on 2nd September, cementing NCL’s position as the third of the big three cruise companies which include Carnival Corp. and Royal Caribbean.

Kevin Sheehan, President and CEO of Norwegian Cruise Lines, revealed that he had no plans to make changes to Oceania and Regent or the way they operate:

“If we do this right, the guest will never even know we had the transaction,” he told Cruise Critic. “I want to keep the integrity of the three brands separate and distinct… This is really putting three successful, smart companies together and having more scale.”

The merger is great news for cruise lovers, making it easier than ever for committed cruisers with NCL to make the leap into new adventures on luxury ships – and for experienced luxury cruisers to introduce the cruise lifestyle to friends looking for exciting new family holidays.

Miami-based Norwegian Cruise Line has also recently been named Europe’s Leading Cruising Line by the World Travel Awards for the seventh consecutive year. With this latest news we’re looking forward to seeing NCL, Oceania and Regent Seven Seas combining their collective experience to create even more fantastic travel experiences for cruise lovers around the world.
