Norwegian announces $400m refurb

Norwegian cruise line deals

For many people, January is about new starts for the New Year and that’s certainly true for Norwegian Cruise Line, who have just announced The Norwegian Edge, an extensive $400m two-year investment programme involving nine ships.

When we say extensive, we do mean extensive and this is much more than just a lick of paint, with everything from the ship’s hardware to its restaurants, menus and public areas receiving the Edge treatment. Though it’s just been announced, the programme started back in October 2015 when Norwegian Epic was given a new look, with restaurant makeovers and new entertainment venues like The Cavern Club.

Norwegian Gem was next up in November, also boasting restaurant makeovers, interior refurbishments to bars and lounges and new interactive signage too. Teak flooring will ensure a classic feel, but contemporary is the watchword here, with a whole new look to many public areas.

Spring 2016 sees the refurbishments continue, with Pride of America and Norwegian Sun receiving new looks, then Norwegian Dawn in the summer of this year. The programme extends into 2017 with Norwegian Spirit, Sky and Pearl receiving enhancements in winter 2017 and Norwegian Jade in spring 2017.

Whatever ship you choose to cruise on in 2016 you’ll benefit from the programme however, because all the ships in the fleet will offer upgraded complimentary dining room menus, as well as a choice of a la carte-priced items in the main dining venues. The new menus mean more variety for cruisers, with featured entrees and appetizers, which promise to be a satisfying blend of traditional dishes with contemporary cuisine. Also, the speciality dining menus which made their first appearance on Norwegian Escape will be extended across the entire fleet throughout 2016, with new choices set to be on offer in such venues as Cagney’s Steakhouse, Le Bistro and Teppanyaki.

It’s not just dining but destinations which are set to benefit from the programme, with expansions planned for the line’s privately owned destinations including the Caribbean escape of Harvest Caye in Belize, and the private Bahamian island of Great Stirrup Cay.

If you want to experience the new-look fleet for yourself, you’ll be pleased to know we have a great selection of NCL deals available, so take a look at what we have on offer then call us today to book your place on-board.
