This month saw the first ever AquaDucky Derby to take place on-board the Disney Cruise Lines ships, raising around £9,000 for the charity Make-A-Wish International.
The event took place on all four of the ships in the cruise line, giving guests and crew the opportunity to buy a duck and volunteer their time to decorate the duck in any way they wished, before it was entered into a race.
On the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy, the ducks raced through the AquaDuck water coaster, around the upper decks before crashing out of the slide at the finish line. On the Disney Magic and Disney Wonder, ducks raced across the Goofy pool, propelled by the splashes created by the guests and crew.
The money raised will help to grant the wishes of thousands of children across the world who are suffering from life-threatening illnesses. It’s a charity that Disney has worked with for many years, having granted over 81,000 wishes.
