If you’re over 55 and considering a cruise, you’ll likely be interested to know of the deals and discounts that are available for senior citizens.
Best cruise line senior discounts
Each cruise line has a different policy when it comes to discounting for older travellers. The cruise lines which are currently offering discounts for senior citizens are:
The amount of discount varies and isn’t usually published. So if you find a cruise that you like, call our cruise concierge team on 0808 1234 118 and we’ll check what discounts the cruise line will offer you.
How old do you need to be to get a senior citizen rate on your cruise?
In the cruise industry, a senior citizen is generally defined as some who is at least 55 years old. So whilst you may not qualify for O.A.P. or pensioner discounts on hotels or tickets for tourist attractions until you’re 60 or 65 years old, you’ll be able to access senior cruise deals much sooner.
One great thing about senior discounts on cruises is that if one of you is under 55, you’ll both get the discount! In fact, anyone sharing a stateroom with someone over 55 may be eligible for the discount, this could even apply to children sharing with grandparents on a multi-generation family trip, depending on the cruise line.
How do I claim a senior citizen discount on my cruise?
When you call us to book, just mention to your cruise concierge that one or more of your party is over 55 and we will look up what deals are available and apply them to your booking for you.
There may be certain criteria that you have to meet to be eligible for a discount such as booking a certain number of months in advance. Senior discounts are also usually not combinable with other offers. So if you’re already getting a reduced price, free drinks or other free extras, you may be better off with this deal than with a senior discount. But we’ll be able to check this for you when you call us.
Are discounts available for certain occupations?
Some cruise lines also offer discounts for police officers, firefighters, NHS staff, teachers and the military. So if you have a job which sometimes enables you to access discounts for other things, it’s worth asking if you’re eligible for a discount your cruise. Just give our concierge team a call on 0808 1234 118
would you consider advertising for female singles to share cabins.
i am sure you would get plenty of !adies to respond

Im interested in booking the Norwegian Star cruise that departs from Venice, Italy on August 4, 2019. Both my husband and I are over 55 years of age. When I spoke to NCL representative, she said that NCL no longer offers this discount. Is this true? If not true, what kind of discount would they be able to offer?
Hi Ghada, thank you for your enquiry. I’ve passed your details on to our Cruise Concierge who will be in touch and happy to help. Thanks, Emma.
We are interested in booking a cruise for Sept or October 2020 with a preferred
destination in Aisa for 7-10 nights, in particular Singapore, and any other
surrounding islands.
The trip is for 2 adults, (over 55) and will need to include the
cost of a balcony stateroom or mini suite (if you could provide separate quotes
for each please).
Can you also include in the cost, gratuities, full
drinks and food package, so we want to be able to eat and drink on any part
of the ship. We will consider flying (quote will need to include flights)
to the departure port or happy to sail from the UK if that is an option.
Thank you.
kind regards
Mrs Pat Wright
Hi Pat, thank you for your enquiry. I’ve passed your details on to our Cruise Concierge who will be in touch with more details. Thanks, Emma.
