All the world’s a stage for HAL’s ms Koningsdam

New Holland America ship Koningsdam

As soon as we heard about the news about Holland America’s newest ship ms Koningsdam, due to set sail in February 2016, we shared the news with you on our blog and now we’ve just found out about one of the exciting new facilities she’s set to feature.

The World Stage is the ship’s main theatre and will feature a multi-story 270-degree High Definition LED screen, which is 250 feet long and which will also boast both state-of-the-art lighting and a cutting edge sound system.

The screen is set to be more than just somewhere to visit during the evening, as it’s designed to host an exciting array of performances throughout the day, with the environment of the World’s Stage able to change throughout the day, which will mean anything from an Italian palazzo for an evening concert to a whole new imaginary world which will form the backdrop to one of the ship’s exciting production numbers.

Koningsdam will be a new Pinnacle Class of ship and debut a range of other innovative new public spaces and venues, including new restaurants Sel de Mer – a stylish seafood brasserie and a completely redesigned Lido Market with themed serving stations.

Other exciting new additions will include the Music Walk, a multi-genre melting pot of sounds which will host a number of venues including Lincoln Center Stage which will host chamber music and in contrast, Billboard Onboard, which will feature performances from live rock musicians.
