It might be two years since Cuba opened its doors to cruise ships, but thanks to last year’s lifting of the US embargo, exciting new Caribbean itineraries are still pouring in.
The latest come from Carnival – five additional voyages complementing the Cuba cruises it launched earlier this year. Sailing on 17th February, 2nd July and 5th September 2018 and porting even longer in Havana, three five-day cruises will transport guests to Cozumel in Mexico or Key West in Florida, alongside the Cuban capital. Carnival will also launch a six-day sailing featuring calls in Havana and Grand Cayman (departing 26th August 2018), and an immersive eight-day cruise with stops at Havana, Grand Cayman and Cozumel (departing 18th August).
Carnival’s eight-day Cuba cruise will offer two full culture and history-fuelled days in Havana before moving onto other tropical ports, allowing guests to really get to the heart of this vibrant capital. Not that the cruise line’s other itineraries offer a flying visit – all five of Carnival’s new voyages offer at least a day call and overnight in Havana.
“Our cruises to Cuba have been very well received,” said Christine Duffy, president of Carnival. “We’re delighted to provide our guests with additional opportunities to experience and explore this fascinating and sought-after destination.”
Fascinating indeed – guests will be able to choose from close to 20 shore excursions that showcase Cuba’s culture, architecture and history in all its glory.
