The Cruise Quiz – Answers

Cruise Quiz Answers

Right, this should be obvious from the title of this blog, but just in case – this blog is where you’ll find the answers for the cruise quiz that we uploaded here recently. If you’ve not seen that post and you want to take part in the quiz, don’t open this post. That would spoil it for you, and definitely counts as cheating.

Seriously, this is your last chance before we get into the answers.

OK, here we go. The first question I asked was whether the Norwegian Epic or the Allure of the Seas launched first. The answer was the Norwegian Epic, which launched on 10th July 2009 (which happened to be my 23rd birthday, stat-fans). The Allure of the Seas didn’t launch until the November of the following year. Question two asked which of those two cruise lines had the most ships on order and the answer was Royal Caribbean, which has four (Quantum of the Seas, Anthem of the Seas, another Quantum-Class and an Oasis-Class ship) to NCL’s three (Norwegian Getaway, Norwegian Bliss and Norwegian Escape).

Question three asked the name of the new P&O ship that’s been announced, which is the Britannia, while for question four I wanted to know what the Carnival Sunshine used to be called before refurbishment – well done if you said the Carnival Destiny. And question five asked for the name of the MSC mascot, which is Doremi (Do-Re-Mi. Clever.)

Question six moved onto Princess Cruises with a request for the name of the godmother of the Royal Princess, which of course was Kate Middleton. I rank that as the easiest question on this quiz, so boo if you missed it. The answer to question seven (the name of the special excursions offered on most cruises) was AzAmazing Evenings.

For question eight I simply wanted the names of all four Fred. Olsen cruise ships: the Balmoral, the Braemar, the Boudicca and the Black Watch. For question nine you were looking for the term used for the maximum dimensions of a ship that could pass through the Panama Canal which was ‘Panamax’, and for question 10 I wanted to know how many cruise lines had a ship entitled Spirit. I found six: the Carnival Spirit, the NCL Spirit, the Seabourn Spirit, the Silver Spirit, the Thomson Spirit and the Wind Spirit for Windstar Cruises. Did I miss any?

Let me know how you did in the comments. If anyone got 10/10 I’m very impressed. And a little bit suspicious, if I’m honest.
