MSC Magnifica will be undergoing a €130 million investment in 2021, upgrading public spaces and accommodation as well as extending the ship by 23 metres!
The ship will go into the dry dock from March 2021 and set sail anew from May, offering a range of new itineraries including 24 from Southampton.
New features and enhancements will include:
- 215 new cabins
- A new kids’ water park
- Extended Sun Deck
- Enhancements to the kids’ club
- Two new speciality restaurants
Over 90% of the new cabins will be balconies, one of the most popular choices for the UK market, according to the cruise line. Antonio Paradiso, MSC Cruises’ Managing Director for the UK and Ireland, said:
“Magnifica has always been well recieved by UK customers. It is a unique ship that looks like a Fantasia-class ship – even though it is a part of the Musica-class. We saw the opportunity to lengthen her even further and make her even younger. One of the reasons we picked Magnifica is it is popular with families in the UK because of the high ratio of multiple cabins.”
The sailings in 2021, following Magnifica’s refurbishment, will be predominantly UK sourced and include 18 new itineraries for the cruise line. These range from two- to 14-nights in length and visit regions such as the Canary Islands, the Mediterranean, Northern Europe and the Baltics.
As for the two dining venues which will be introduced to the ship in 2021, the line hasn’t revealed what these will be. Paradiso did add:
“The speciality restaurant already exists and has proven popular with the UK customers.”
