New ship MSC Meraviglia touched water for the first time today in St Nazaire, France. The ultra-modern ship will set sail in June 2017.
With a capacity of 5,714 guests, this huge ship is similar in size to Royal Caribbean’s Harmony of the Seas, which is the world’s largest. Notable features will include a 96m indoor promenade with an LED sky and a waterpark with three slides. According to MSC, it will have ‘the most generous pool space at sea’. The ship will also feature 12 dining venues and shows by circus company Cirque du Soleil.
This new ship is sure to be a favourite with British cruisers, as well as Europeans. Fly-cruises will be available sailing from Genoa, Barcelona and Marseille.
Here’s a time-lapse video of the ship being built at the STX shipyard.
