P&O’s Iona to set sail for the fjords

Olden, Norway

The latest vessel to join the P&O Cruises already seven-strong fleet has revealed where she will be sailing during her inaugural 2020 season.

Iona is set to journey to the Norwegian fjords as of May 2020, departing and returning to Southampton on a number of seven-day itineraries aboard the cruise line’s brand new LNG-powered flagship.

Paul Ludlow, P&O Cruises Senior Vice President, said:

“From the initial stages of her build we knew that Iona would be sailing to the fjords and as such, every single detail has been designed to maximise the views, the ever changing vistas and remarkable landscape.”

The ship will also boast a SkyDome, featuring a glass roof and temperature control to ensure that the views of the passing fjords is maximised and unforgettable. Ludlow continues:

“Iona has been designed to make the sea the star. With incredible views guaranteed from all over the ship, the whole season of fjords itineraries will enable guests to have the choice of when they want to travel to this spectacular area.”

Iona will boast excursions including river rafting, kayaking, RIB rides, glacier tours via helicopter, ziplining and fishing for crayfish, making her experience all the more enjoyable for guests on-board.

The ports of call include Olden, Bergen, Hellesylt, Geirangerjord, Stavanger, Alesund and Hardanderjord, each offering unrivalled experiences and views of the stunning regions.

When speaking of P&O Cruises as a cruise line, Paul Ludlow also added:

“P&O Cruises is the expert in delivering holidays to the fjords and this expertise brings with it the most diverse range of excursion experiences; from action packed adventures to culturally vibrant towns and charming villages offering spectacular discoveries and delicious, traditional foods.”
