Royal Caribbean are selling one of their older ships, Legend of the Seas, to Thomson Cruises. The ship will be renamed as TUI Discovery 2 and will join Thomson’s fleet in March 2017.
The ship will be all-inclusive and will offer popular facilities such as an outdoor movie screen, rock-climbing wall and mini golf course. She will provide accommodation for 1,832 guests and 726 crew.
Previous to this, Thomson also aquired another of Royal Caribbean’s old ships – Slendour of the Seas become Thomson Discovery – a move that was obviously very popular with cruisers as it is being repeated with this new sister ship. Two more ships, the 1,900-passenger Mein Schiff 1 and 2, are scheduled to transfer to Thomson from sister company TUI in 2018 and 2019.
