What are the best ships for children?

The majority of mainstream cruise lines offer activities for children but there are certainly some cruise lines and ships which are ideally suited for families travelling with youngsters, or indeed older children, too. For younger children in particular, Disney Cruise Line is an ideal choice and no matter which ship you travel on and the line offers a range of dedicated programmes and the ever-present Disney theme is perfect for children. Carnival Cruise Line’s Carnival Dream and Carnival Magic are particularly good ships for children, while Royal Caribbean is another good line for youngsters, offering one of the broadest ranges of facilities for children of all ages and dedicated kids clubs divided into different age groups. The lines larger ships such as Allure, Oasis, Freedom, Liberty and Independence of the seas offer a particularly wide choice of activities, while Princess Cruises’ Crown, Emerald and Ruby Princess all offer a wide range of children’s programmes, as does P&O Cruises’ Ventura.
